I hate to do this

For Sale: small set of C# pipes made by Bill Haneman (Sorry Bill, you know what I am up to these days :frowning: ). Set consists of a C# chanter made of rosewood (probably, though we were never quite certain) with one key; two macassar drones (tenor and baritone) set in a small stock which are turned on and off by wooden end pins; and bellows. This is a very sweet sounding set of pipes and is an absolute pleasure to play. Comes in a viola case which fits it perfectly and three extra reeds. Here are some pics:

I am asking $1800 plus shipping for the set. I would prefer to ship to US only. Please contact by PM.

Wow, sorry it has come to that Matt. I had hoped you’d be able to hang on to it. It’s true, the wood used for the chanter was a “mystery billet” that I picked up from a box at Nagel in Hamburg in 2001 or so, and neither Nagel nor I was able to identify it. Smelled and acted like a dense rosewood, but looked like Macassar ebony.

Someone will be getting a big discount… at the current exchange rate, a similar chanter plus shipping from Ireland would cost more than the asking price. Chanter is stamped “#2”, made 2005 if I recall correctly.

and a nice kit.

After some thought and talking with Bill yesterday about the distinctive qualities of this set, plus how much I love to play it, I have decided to hold on to it. I will probably put another set up in the near future, but can’t let this one go. Thanks for the interest and sorry to disappoint.

Matt

A very wise decision. I have a C# set from Rogge.
A beautiful set and a beautiful sound.
