Jean, Bienvenue au monde de C&F!
Baroque repertoire is a fun exercise in whistle masochism, playing with recorder or flageolet technique. Yes, it is (artificially) difficult.
My effort to ruin Telemann is here: http://www.box.net/shared/uv4b8i9app
(The whistle is a Freeman Blackbird.)
I’d also be interested to hear you play your whistle as a whistle.

You’re quite right! But I can make progress with difficult pieces.

I do like your playing.
I’d also be interested to hear you play your whistle as a whistle.
You should be disappointed…
Au revoir
Jean
Hi, Jean.
My wife and I enjoyed listening to you yesterday, when we found your videos on youtube. Welcome.
Roland
Hi Roland,
hi Madame,
when we found your videos on youtube.
evergreen pieces, recorder + guitar…

Telemann, my favorite baroque composer.
Sometimes I wish I did not give up the recorder.
Nicely played! I used to play those Fantasias on Alto recorder, but most of them are not in whistle friendly keys. I’ll have to give this one a shot.
Have you tried the Bach Orchestral Suite#2? It’s terrific on D whistle, especially the (difficult) Badinerie.

Yes, on the alto recorder. Why not on a whistle?
Vivaldi is now in the pipe…line.

MTG! beautiful! what whistle did you use for that… may i download it to learn it?
thank you!
be well,
jim
That’s a D.
Hey Guru-- maybe you’ll know where I can get transposable classical scores. I want to find a copy of the Bach Violin Partita No. 3 in E major BWV 1006, but transcribed to a more mandolin-friendly key.
I’ll look around, Paul. My Telemann was from a Musica Rara print edition, edited by R.P. Block.
Freeman Blackbird D (prototype). Sure, download away!
thank you.
be well,
jim

Very nice! Why the false modesty?
Dave.
Well thanks, Dave. It was more just a personal challenge than a serious effort, and partly to demo the whistle. I’d guess that Jean (the OP) feels the same about his clips.
Baroque whistle is like a talking dog. It will probably be done badly, but it’s a surprise that it can be done at all.
Whatever the reasons, it works! Having the tasteful accompaniment does help.
I talk dog cobblers frequently…My dog is the only one who listens though (he is being polite cos’ he knows where his bread is buttered)
I’m nobody anyone on this forum knows, still trying to get something resembling music out of my Dixon Trad. On the complete opposite end of the spectrum is your music. Absolutely beautiful and extraordinarily well played! Now I know whom to listen to, to see how it’s played correctly.
Thank you.

Yes, I quite agree. Measures with errors are interesting for me as material to tackle the typical finger-technical problems… which I am always looking for!
Kind regards
Jean
