You posted a clip played on a blackbird, of Jeans reel a while back http://www.box.net/shared/cmcvr1ubcr
I loved your version, and have since been trying to learn it.
I can’t read music, and learn everything by ear,
so i’m sorry i can’t explain in a musical language. All i can do is read dots.
I have learned the first two sections of the tune, but am stuck on the third,
are you going from a B to a cranned D or are you ornamenting in another way? and if so what comes after the cranned D
I’m sorry about my vagueness, but i can’t think of any other way of explaining. I guess the tune can be broken into four parts when i listen to it,
so it’s the third part i’m finding difficult to hear through the fast burbling/fluttering part
I would be very grateful for some guidance, it’s played so quickly that i’m finding it difficult to sort out by ear
Yes i understand, but it’s a bit late to give it a whirl right now.
I’ll have to try the tongued double- cut triplet, that one is new to me, is it easier to play at that speed than the crann you mentioned?
I have actually learned a great deal from your clip already in the first and second parts, there is quite a lot going on, with lots of variations.
Progress has been slow and i’ve listened over and over, focused on one small bit at a time. It’s always a great feeling to eventually master a new tune, which, perhaps previously thought to be out of reach.
C&F sound clips i think are so important, certainly for whistlers who don’t have the teachers or sessions to go to.
Oh and before i forget, your version of Jeans reel is beautifully played, you are an inspiring mentor
