Nice flute, I have a keyless one that I bought used in 2008 (about a year old then) for 500 Euro I think. It was a bargain! I presume yours is the one you had used from Doc Jones and reviewed on the discussion thread. Can’t afford your $2400 but I hope it ends up in a good home.
Yes, it is. that flute. I believe the wait for a new keyed Cotter is about 9 months.
The price is about 2800 dolllars. I’m selling because I at last got some keys on my Olwell
and need money. The Cotter plays beautifully and is very sweetly in tune.
This is as good as new. .Also included is a sturdy hard nylon case.
Maybe he keeps the wooden case for his Olwell. I will also keep my lovely hardwood case for my new flute when I’m selling my current one in about half a year.
Nonetheless, Cotter flutes are great, they offer a nice and complex sound and speak easily. Would get one if they came with eight keys.
This is the case it came in from Doc. It’s a handsome case, in fact. It’s got plush compartments
inside, it’s very protective, it’s rigid, and also portable. Sorry I have no camera. I’ve had
wooden cases and like this better.
Mine doesn’t live in its coffin either it has to be said - aesthetically pleasing, and reassuringly solid, but doesn’t half bump your bones if you sling it over your shoulder in a backpack
…although if anything the smooth polished finish on the case is better than on the flute!
Here’s another video, which is meant partly as a response to the idea that
Prattens are great honking beasts, without nuance or romance. Perhaps
you can hear the sweetness of the tuning, too.
As much as I’d like an Eb Cotter, I’m skint (I wonder why???). And in reality, for the little bit of Eb playing I get to do (alas), the one I have is just dandy.
Of course, if y’all want to come down here and start an Eb session, I’m all over it. But bring some fiddlers; the ones here keep whingeing about warping necks or something. WTF? Can’t they get smaller fiddles?
