Isn’t she pretty? I haven’t picked a name for her yet, but I’m leaning toward something Elvish.

P.S. The bottom hole isn’t really that huge…it’s just the angle of the photo.

That’s, that’s … stunning. Wow. How beautiful.
darn,this is so tempting…
high D?
Yes, High D.
I tried to get a picture of back of the headpiece, because it’s really so attractive…the brass shades into the varigated wood which shades into the black Delrin fipple…but I couldn’t get a good, clear, closeup. I might try again tomorrow, fiddling with the camera settings a bit.

That is stunning Redwolf. Is that Rosewood, or other? I have seen similar whistles/fifes made of persimmon wood (American ebony), which looks very similar, large type granulated wood.
well, acording to redwolfs “busman bliss” thread, its kingwood… its sooooo pretty… “mommy, forget the pony, I want that for my birthday”
Yes, it’s Kingwood. I waffled a bit between Kingwood, Bocote and Pau Rosa, but I really like the way Kingwood is figured (call me silly, but it reminds me of the way a redwood tree looks…those long, dark lines against the warm, reddish-brown wood). Maybe I ought to call her “Sequoia.”

Lovely. And I like the way Paul used the grain pattern, joining two “arrows” at the tuning slide.
Now that looks just beautiful. I can hardly wait until mine arrives.
Even prettier than I had imagined.
When my parents were first becoming missionaries, and I was about ten years old, I visited the place where the Missions Board met, and they had a table made of exotic woods from around the world. Brewer Paul’s whistles remind me of that table a bit.
The fellow who built the Totem Pole park had an ambition to build a fiddle from a wood from every nation on the face of the earth. He came a long way toward achieving that goal.
…
…(sorry cana speak for drooling )
!!!
!!! Kingwood…wow!!!
That man isn’t just a fine craftsman. He’s a heck of an artist too. Wow.

Redwolf, PLEASE do NOT post photos like this!
Do you have any idea how hard it’s going to be to clean the drool out of my keyboard?
Just kidding and congratulations. It is a beautiful instrument.
I’m jealous.
Redwolf… Just when I had got my WhOA under control. That is beautiful. I’m not even going to ask how good it sounds, It is apparent. Congratulations.
That really is a beautiful whistle. I have been considering one made of wood. Now I have a good reason!
Cantate domino canticum novum
That’s a nice bit of Latin, but for this thread you probably should have changed it to something that translated to: “See my new Busman? Drool, Loser-boy!”
What a beauty. Instead of coveting, I’ll just keep looking at the pic and make it a goal to get one … someday. Wow. … Thanks for sharing! Give us a clip as soon as you can, okay?

Recording a clip is going to be a bit more problematic than posting a pic, I’m afraid. I’m having no end of trouble with recording, and my husband and I are both at a loss. My computer simply won’t record, and we’re not sure why. There doesn’t appear to be anything wrong with the sound card (I can listen to clips just fine), and the software appears to be working properly, but no matter what mic we plug into it, it simply doesn’t pick up sound…not even static. I suspect there may be a problem with the jack. It was like this when we got it (the second computer in a row we’ve had that simply doesn’t record at all).
The recording feature on my daughter’s computer had been working, and I did manage to get one useable clip from it (“The Parting Glass,” on my Elfsong)…it had quite a lot of background noise, but Ridseard very kindly cleaned it up for me. Since then, however, the background noise (which is more like “foreground noise” anymore) has gotten worse…to the point where nothing I record is “clean-up-able.” All you hear is a lot of hissing, with the whistle sounding far away in the background. I’ve tried everything I can think of…turned off everything else in the loft, moved the mic as far from the disc drive and monitor as possible, buffered the mic with paper shields all around it and padding underneath it, changed the distance and the angle of the whistle in relation to the mic, fiddled with the recording settings…but nothing I do seems to help. I even went out and bought a noise reduction mic, but it’s no better. I sure wish I could figure out what’s wrong, but I’m at a total loss.
There is one Busman clip at Tin Whistle Tunes that I know of…Tony Higgins playing Coinnleach Glas an Fhomhair on his plumwood Busman:
