my bocote busman’s prettier than yours, but no digital camera…
just kidding: redwolf, i hope you treasure, care and feed your busman as much as i do. i just love oiling it and touching it and playing it and beholding it.
Very nicely indeed! I’m going to wait to post a review until I’ve had it for a while and learned all its nuances, but I’m very pleased. It requires more breath support in the upper octave than I’m used to (not excessive…just different), and it likes a different embouchure, with the mouthpiece a little farther between my lips…when I get it right, it really sings! Warm, woody, utterly enchanting.
All you droolers should take note that Paul’s whistles are easily the most affordable of the high-end wooden whistles, even after a small price rise recently. Just how long that will be the case remains to be seen. Mine should arrive this coming week with luck and I’m …er… drooling.
They’re very different…complementary, really. That’s the cool thing for me…to have two such lovely whistles that are so different in looks and character, yet both so desireable to play and enjoy. Don’t worry…Morningsong isn’t jealous…after all, she gets to go for rides in the car (and in my back pocket), whereas her new sister is going to be a bit more sheltered!
Like french, I, too have a bocote Busman which is a truly stunnung piece of craftsmanship. Redwolf’s Kingwood is a gorgeous whistle, as all have said. To me, each wood Paul uses has its’ own characteristic beauty - it’s up to each individual which one they feel is prettier. All of us Busman owners most likely think our whistle is the fairest of all!!
