Does anybody have a comparable experience to this:
Back on Nov. 9th I emailed Noah Herbison through his Laughing Whistles website to ask for the details of how to order, including the query if there were any ready to ship. I got a prompt reply to mail a check, but no answer to my question. I mailed the check the next day, including my shipping address and the request that I receive notification when my check arrived because I was mailing it such a long distance. I never got any reply. I waited until my bank statement showed me that my check had been cashed by Herbison and finally cleared on 12/4.
I understand that not everyone, even website owners, have the capability to keep up much with email correspondences. I also understand that the more time one takes to correspond with customers, the less time one has to produce the product. For these reasons I haven’t contacted Herbison again.
I am waiting as patiently as I can for a highly reputable product in good faith, but I am accustomed to having my payment and order placement acknowledged.

Here’s the deal (to the best of my knowledge).
Noah is a student. Making whistles is very much a sideline for him, not a business.
He posted a while back that he’s slowing down on making whistles to concentrate on school. I’ve been waiting for mine for a bit longer that I’d care to mention. Noah e-mailed that he would be working on a new batch. Hopefully, he’ll have some time over the holiday break to finish a few.
Cheers,
jb
I understand that Noah has gone back to school so he is doing this whistle business only part time. I guess it’s to be expected that he is not as prompt as he used to be both with delivery and with correspondence.
Still, I would contact him at this point to make sure there hasn’t been a mixup and to see if he can give you a fix on a delivery date. Noah is a reputable guy, but since he has your money it’s not unreasonable to ask for a confirmation of your order and an approximate delivery date, IMO.

(BTW, I love my Laughing Whistle. I never did figure out how he came up with that name, though.)
I’m also on the list for a whistle of Noah’s and I can confirm that he is a student with limited time. In past months we have been in correspondence and he did plan to spend a lot of time over this holiday break catching up. I planned on emailing him again to check my status, I will let you know what happens.
He is probably in the middle of his break right now. By the way if you receive an email from him and it is totally blank, reply and tell him. Sometimes the university computers don’t mesh well with his Hotmail account.
Thanks All!
I emailed Noah and he replied within 12 hrs, saying that in a few days he would be in the same place his waiting list was and that he would give me an approximate ship date.
Happy New Year,
Lisa
Okay, this is promising. I ordered mine in July, so maybe I’ll see it soon. I think I’ll stay out of Noah’s hair though, having emailed him twice in the last couple of months.
Maybe I should start practicing again. I do it so sporadically. I’m hoping to annoy my dogs by playing in the park when we go for our morning walks, but I don’t want to annoy the other people.
