The Northeast Tionól, October 21-24, 2011

Just a friendly reminder that regular price registration ($140) is open from now until October 10. After that you’ll have to register at the event itself and pay $160.

Gavin’s has no more empty rooms; there may be folks willing to share a double, though! There are a couple of possible ways to find them. You could try checking out the room and ridesharing blog at

http://netionol.blogspot.com/

Or put something up on our facebook page – or, heck, even here!

One of our boardmembers had this to say about housing alternatives:

If you get closed out of Gavin’s – remember that Furlong’s is, sad to say, no more. During Irish Arts Week, I have stayed at the Rose Motel, down 145 about 2 miles – very nice, and very reasonably priced. No food, just rooms, and they do have kitchenettes. I think they’ll be open during the Tionol, and it is well worth checking out. (> http://www.rosemotelny.com/rates.html> ) Especially if your diet isn’t well served at Gavin’s!
That said, Gavin’s has allowed you to pay for individual meals there if you’re not staying there, if you want to join the rest of the Tionol participants in a meal.

The Blackthorne has its own event going on that weekend (Country & Western Weekend!), but it’s a big place, and likely to have rooms available. They may require paying for their meal plan.

Cheers,
KAD

Too bad circumstances have prevented me from practicing for nearly a year. It doesn’t matter; I’m still going. I’ll just sound awful and make a fool of myself. But that’s half the fun, right?

Great! See you there! Think of it as a new incentive to practice…

Bumpity bump! Coming up fast, folks. Remember: advance registration for $140 closes on Monday, Oct 10. After that you’ll have to register at the event itself for $160. To register, go to:

Also announcing the debut of our cafepress online store, featuring merchandise with this year’s “The Strapper” design, last-year’s popular “Rosie the Riveting Piper,” and a new “Timeless” bellows/fiddle image, all designed by the tionól’s brilliant artist-in-residence, Tom Klein (tommykleen to us surly c&f denizens). Stylish gear for you, your infant, your iPad, your coffee, your groceries…and all purchases help cover the costs of the event.

Looking forward to seeing everyone there!

The swag looks brill! Nice job, Mr. K! And I’m glad to see some more-fitted/“women’s-ey”-type T-shirts in the lineup now. I may have to get a new “shapelier” Rosie, too. She’s far too cool to be spending all her evenings at home as a nightshirt.

Our plane will land in Albany one week from … NOW. YAY!

Can’t wait!

Wish I could be there! Have a (ahem) blast!

Safe journey to East Durham. See you there!

Just back from the tionol. Simply fabulous!
I’m still floating from the concert.
Solo unaccompanied playing at it’s very finest.
Superlatives cannot describe the music played last night
and that includes the session. The tionol committee did
a wonderful job in having that group of players. I was so
lucky to be able to attend. Slainte!

Thanks to the good folks who put this together, it was just amazing. Good time, learned some, made new friends and enjoyed some pints. Doesn’t get much better than that.
