JayMitch, Kim, did you or anyone else out there make it to Mayfest in Tulsa? If so, did you see the Whistleworks booth and their ocarinas? What about the didjeridoos? Way cool!
Next time I’m in T-town, I should bring my guitar and whistles and try to chase you guys down for a little impromptu session! Maybe we can all get tickets to see Gaelic Storm when they come, too (speaking of didjeridoos)!
I’m not invited?! sniff I understand…Ok, sorry…I’ve recovered myself. We were probably going to go see Gaelic Storm, so if you get tickets let me know and maybe we can meet each other there. Talk to you later!
Yes! I was there and saw the whistle booth! And not only that, I saw John-N’s band “Kilkenny Street” play for nigh on an hour! The whistling John did was great, the first live whistling I’ve ever seen and my 3 year old said he could feel the irish drum inside his body! LOL!
However, my mom was so inspired that she proceeded to talk about our Irish heritage, like we’re not a perfect example of the melting pot! We’re full of all kinds of heritages, but it wouldn’t have surprised me if my mom had started talking with a brogue! Ha ha!
Unfortunately, I can only hear out of one ear and it was difficult listening to my mom and trying to listen to the whistle. Plus there was all the other noise at the Mayfest.
We intend to go to Kilkenny restaraunt (on Cherry Street) to hear the band play on the 27th. If anyone else shows up, we’ll see you there! I’ll be the slightly pudgy housewife with short brown hair and two little boys who think they are jedis.

Oh this sound good, btw! Do you know “Twinkle twinkle little star”? LOL, seriously, I don’t think I’ll be ready to contribute anything for a while, but I’d love to listen! I’m doing pretty good with a little tune called “Peg Ryans” and I play along with that BBC virtual session thing. Still sounds dreadful though!
Gaelic Storm was the third-class party band in “Titanic”. They are scheduled for Tulsa (I’m not sure whether it’s the PAC or the Brady) I think sometime in September.
I say that when we go, we should do like the “Rocky Horror Picture Show”, and bring umbrellas and squirt-guns (the small ones - the theatre will probably confiscate any super-soakers). We should probably wear life jackets, too! Let’s spread this all over eastern OK and western AR (and south KS)! That way they’ll know they’ve got lots of crazy fans.
