Very nice workshop and house/mansion! Who said there’s no money in pipemaking?!

good heavens..
i should think there’s nothing he cannot make in that space..
amazing

No, there’s something not quite right and too perfect about it…no chanters and stuff in the wood pile, that’s it!

Give it 2 days. Pics taken when just completed. :stuck_out_tongue:

I was at Martin’s house recently and I can assure you there is plenty of pipes and stuff in his workshop. The New workshop looks fantastic. Currently saving up for drones and regulators to go along with my Preshaw Chanter. wish Martin and Family all the best with the new workshop. lovely people.

Woodpile, mairtin. Woodpile. As in those stacks around the stove. It was a joke based on the idea that something always gets binned.

sorry Nanohedron It didn’t dawn on me what you meant.

I’ve been in busy professional joinery shops that haven’t been fitted out to that standard,I somehow dont think it was solely funded by the making of Uilleann pipes.

Guess some hefty grants were available as most makers workshops I have seen have garden sheds, lean too’s, garages that have seen better days

It does look very clinical and compared with some makers shops there seem to be very few tools - just the one ‘display’ board

Perhaps the makers on this board would like to add a photoshow of their own workshop or would that be giving secrets away

I have heard that Martin is a very successful farmer ,
and just to show you dont need a state of the art workshop to produce the best pipes, heres Alain Froment’s workshop.

To me, the mst wonderful thing in Mr. Preshaw´s workshop is the powder collection system… everything is so clean, lovely.

Working in a cramped garage dust is always a problem for me, so I totally agree.

Martin has not really moved into his new workshop yet, this one is only just completed.

Here is his old workshop, which did not have heat (I can relate to that too).

Rory (or whoever he really is) seems to be implying that you have to be dirt poor or work in a less than optimal space to make great pipes. I don’t understand that at all. All I can say is that I hope Martin’s new workspace is inspirational. As a very amatuer maker, I find the pictures very instructive - he has really thought the workshop through. Having been a bit privy to the construction process, I find it interesting all the expensive hoops he was forced through by local building codes.

Based on conversations with Martin he may be offering pipemaking tutoring in the new workshop as well, and I wish I lived closer to take advantage of that. It would be a nice space to take some lessons.

Best of luck Martin.

Anyway, the old workshop is as clean as the new one.

Martin likes to work in an organised way , his old workshop was also meticulously set out but bloody freezing . Martin is a perfectionist and everything has a place in his modus operandi. It’s the way he makes his pipes. Some people like organised chaos , others don’t. Martin will be more productive in his new place because after being in the old workshop in February with him when it was minus something and another , you cant stay in there that long !!

You probably have trouble understanding a lot of stuff and in the case of my posts, it is a good example. I never implied that you have to be poor to be a pipemaker only that you don’t have to have a state of the art workshop to do so.

No, and especially garbage from your mouth. I don’t understand why you don’t use your real name. Oh, wait… I know.
