I seen and heard the D concert pitch chanter in person ( played by Paddy O’hare )…must say it is a lovely sounding chanter. I was at Martin’s recently and Seen his B and C chanters, again really lovely stuff top quality workmanship which sounds amazing. If I could play like a piper I would buy them all lol
The majority of times I post something about Preshaw’s pipes etc Rory seems to have a little negative dig. Rory what’s your beef ? You seem to act like a wasp…angry and pointless
I dont mean to be negative, I just tell it the way I see it ,much like Martin I suppose. I’ve always liked the way Martin promotes himself, to his colourful discriptions of his pipes to his claiming to be the best pipemaker in Ireland. I think Martins a very good marketing man and his pipes sound very nice indeed.
Fairplay for the reply , think it is definitely a buyers market as there are a lot of good makers out there and a good promotion could be the difference between a sale and no sale. Rory , just out of interest have you ever tried some of Martin’s pipes ? If you are ever over in Wales (South) please feel free to drop by and have a craic on my Pre C and D half set they are lovely
No, and I dont think I’ve ever heard his pipes played other than the sound samples on Martins website. I find a certain similar tonal quality to all his pipes on his website, that I would think might be down to the recording equipment hes useing. Do you know if there are any other recordings of Martins pipes on the internet, such as youtube ?
The first commercial Lunasa recording was John Mc Sherry as the piper. He was using a Sean Mc Aloon chanter which he still plays today along with his Benedict Koehler chanter. It was not a Preshaw chanter

Did John get his Mc Aloon chanter back?? Last I heard it was stolen.
