There was a nice little item on Martin Preshaw on RTE’s Nationwide. It’s available on the RTE player (towards the end of last night’s program).
I thought he was over selling himself a little.
By the way who is outputting 35 full sets a year? or even 20? or is he just making that up?
Yes, that was a bit over the top. Can’t expect too much or anything too complicated from a program like that and taking it for what it was, it was fine.
Thanks for posting this Gumby, I have been waiting for it. It was filmed quit a bit earlier this year, when he was finishing up my pipes - mine are the ones that he’s making regulator reeds for, just before and after the 18:00 mark.
FWIW, the segment was edited way down from most of a working day of filming. No telling how much context for any of the remaining dialogue ended up on the cutting room floor.

Ah, no harm. It is TV after all… He makes great stuff so no harm in saying it out loud.

There was a story/myth going around a few years ago about a pipemaker that made 33 full sets in a year. That’s kind of physically impossible unless you’re Santa and have a bag load of little helpers.

I have received communications from Martin Preshaw saying he feels his name sullied by remarks I made during the course of this thread . I am very sorry Martin feels this way. Martin feels he is not given to hyperbole and I should not have suggested otherwise.
I thought I posted a positive thread about an enjoyable little item I happened to spot on the tellie that could be of interest to members of the forum. Not so apparently. My apologies to anyone who may have felt offended or unjustly treated.
Any pipemaker thats been making pipes and stuck with it ,no matter what,as long as Martin deserves some respect. Fair play to ya Martin.

Hi Peter,
What I said to you, in a private communication, was that it is easy to have a little dig when it is unneccesary and that such little digs can sully a person’s rep. I also said that it seems to be quite common with folk who normally wouldn’t say boo to a goose, to be quite vocal with their opinions or assumptions on a p.c in the comfort of their own home. The few times I have met you in person, face-to-face, you have been, very, very, very quiet, yet not so on this forum. Maybe that will change the next time we meet.
Glad you liked the programme.
