I’ve ended up with two identical keyless Pratten blackwood D flutes by Pat Olwell and need to sell one of them. Thought I’d give C&F’ers a shot before Ebay.
The flute has silver rings and tuning slide. Serial number is 565. I believe it’s about 3 years old, maybe 4. In good condition, a few very minor dings on one of the rings. Plays wonderfully, almost exactly like the other one, interestingly enough. A tribute to Pat’s consistency, I suppose.
Anyway, I’m asking US $1200, shipping within continental US included. Comes with soft Caravello case. I can provide pictures if desired.
Please contact me at johner@[remove_this]austin.rr.com if interested.
DAGNABIT!! And to think, I’ve pretty much convinced my wife to let me put right about that much into my instrument fund, but it’s not for a flute! I’m in the process of taking up the concertina too, and I wanna buy one o’ them.
Well, I guess I could be rational about it and realize that my Copley is all the keyless flute I need. But what fun is that??!!!
Ok. That’s too bad. But I don’t know.? Did it hava an ambidextrouse embouchure? I’t doesn’t matter now anyway.
Forgive me, I’m at a party, it’s late here.
Got the flute and I love it. Very easy to fill and very easy on the fingers. I was surprised to find that the finger holes on my McGee Rudall are about the same size as the Olwell Pratten “style”. A joy to play!
