FS: Olwell flute

Hello Folks,

A friend of mine has decided to be a full-time piper and is selling his brand new Olwell keyless. I don’t believe he has e-mail access at the moment so your best bet is to contact him by phone.

I’m curious and I wonder if anybody has any personal info:
this flute is an Olwell ‘Rudall.’ Has anybody played one of
these? What are they like? The only Olwells I’ve ever
seen were Prattens and Nicholsons (these terms may not
apply very straightforwardly, however…) If
somebody wants to communicate in private,
please PM me. I haven’t heard much discussion
about this species of Olwell. I note a gathering
interest in Rudalls on the fluteboard.

Pat makes three models with different bore/hole configurations: large (Pratten style), medium (Nicholson style) and small (Rudall style. The Rudall has the sweetest upper octave of the three, and the whole thing is very sweet, but the first octave, though focused, isn’t as powerful as on the other models (not surprisingly). I was very happy to have an Olwell Rudall style flute when I was very pregnant and lung-challenged.
