Lucky you ,Maze! Congratulations + many happy tunes.

but....

maze wrote: I am including some shots showing the keys as well as they are pretty interesting - seems to be a 3rd 8ve D, 3rd 8ve C, C nat, B flat, G sharp, F nat, and a D flat...
D flat... d b..flat D(a.k.a.C#, yes?)..d flat...now, how exactly would that work, on a concert chanter?

keys

Post by maze »

ChasR,

on a concert pitch chanter, the keys would be (from the top down):
3rd 8ve E
3rd 8ve D
2nd 8ve Cnat
Bflat
G#
Fnat
Eflat

Don't know how often half of them will get used, but cool that they are there.

New chanter ...

Post by jimharrison »

First attempt at uploading so I do hope it works ... just picked up my new D chanter from Andy Faden - a slinky little number in ebony and brass with surface-mounted Cnat and Fnat keys ...

Image

a couple of close ups :
the keys ....
Image

the reed .... (note the brass seat and cork lining ... very nice!)
Image

the body ....
Image

and the complete collection (as it currently stands ...)
Image
L to R Nick Adams keyless C in ?rosewood, Alan Ginsberg 5-keyed C in boxwood, Arie de Keyser 4-keyed D (plus stop key) in ebony and the new Andy Faden 2-keyed D.

The Ginsberg has a little friend - a side tenor drone by Eugene Lambe, which will have to do till I get a proper flat set!

Now I will get back to packing for WCSS ... see you there (if you're going!) :)

F---ing beautiful Rory.

Probably the most perfectly made regulators I've seen in years.

I've no doubt they sound as well as the look. Mark makes fine stuff!!!

Now play the bejaysus out of them!

Tommy

Edited to show my ignorance

Is the metal work stainless steel or silver?
not that it matters one bit, just curious.

Tell us something.: "Tell us something" hits me a bit like someone asking me to tell a joke. I can always think of a hundred of them until someone asks me for one. You know how it is. Right now, I can't think of "something" to tell you. But I have to use at least 100 characters to inform you of that.
