Hate, hate, hate Mr Bean.

A total waste of Rowan Atkinson's considerable talent.

I opened this thread with the intention of listing Mister Magoo's Christmas Carol - but you beat me to it. :) I haven't seen it in a few years; I don't know if it still runs on cable. If not, then it's a shame.

I've seen all of them except the last one. Is 'Pastorkeith' a good movie? :D

Some critics complained the movie was derivative of Goddard,
but they saw only the heavily edited version that made
it to theaters. I was one of many who thought
the X rating unwarranted. Nudity was no more
flagrant than in many R-rated films. I suppose the
film's Christmas-related theme made the difference.
The casting of Arnold Schwartznegger as Santa Claus,
the Pastor's meth-addicted step-father, was a gamble that certainly
paid off.

I liked it.

The fellows at MST3K also ripped into a Mexican kids movie called "Santa Claus." Has to be the weirdest movie they've ever done. Santa lives in space, has a gang of multi-cultural children instead of elves, and has an ongoing duel of good and evil against the devil. This year, "Pitch" is sent up from hell to foil Santa.
Here's the original verson. Good(or bad, depending on your point of view) even without the MST3K.

You can get a copy of the MST3K verson from the many people on the web who offer copies. I don't think this one has been released by Rhino yet.

Another Christmas-y MST3K movie is the russian film, Jack Frost. This was never goofed on as a Christmas film, but Jack Frost is a well known(for the east) children/family holiday movie. It was terribly dubbed and is filled with russian fairy tails that no westerner would understand, so the movie looks and sounds rediculous. The MST3K verson is hysterical. Again, you can obtain a fan copy.

The three MST3K movies make a nice trilogy that will chase away the sugar and sweet of the holiday spirit!

Christmas Story of course. We watch it every year on video.

And, early in life, I saw Mr. Magoo first. Never have been able to enjoy A Christmas Carol since, cause I keep expectin' Mr. Magoo. Who needs a Scrooge that can see??? They are all way too serious.

I really don't like Christmas movies for the most part. They're always too sappy. Sometimes, I will watch Holiday Inn though. Can't stand White Christmas, the sequel. Just too contrived..
How do you prepare for the end of the world?

Though not officially a "Christmas" movie, "Toys" ends up at Christmas time. One of my all time faves, reviewers be damned.

"Christmas Story" without a doubt. And I'm the proud owner of a Red Ryder BB gun. Sadly, it's without a compass in the stock and no thing that tells time. :sniffle:

In the UK "Great Escape" plays every Christmas. It's a pretty good film, in fact. But I've seen it a dozen times and I still can't get the dialogue off properly.

Ah, pastorkeith....
Part comedy, part existential commentary, like your typical "Waiting for Godot" Christmas spin-off movie. Critics enjoyed the chemistry between its two unknown leads and noted that "the children were darn cute." Why he bakes bread, plays the whistle and keeps trying to lose ten pounds leaves many in the audience scratching their heads. The lack of a catchy soundtrack and very limited distribution make this movie a rare treat indeed :D
