Give your money to Seamus Heaney instead of Hollywood and get his translation.djm wrote:Just seeing the trailers have made me reluctant to view this. I think I can contain myself till it comes out on DVD.
Hell, get the bilingual version - it's better than out-takes and trailers on the DVD extras.
If you want 3D animation, just get someone to throw the book across the room every five pages.

Oh, yeah: also a mod here, not a spammer. A matter of opinion, perhaps. - Location: Lefse country

I take it the beheading of Grendel's mother will not be the part of the film you are waiting for.brewerpaul wrote:Who the hell cares? I'll risk it:mutepointe wrote:hysterical. will the 3-D still give me a whopper of a headache?

Okay, Beowulf awesome yet tragic character, based on the trailers, I don't know if I can truly judge it. So far all the trailers got me excited about is the fact Ray Winstone is the voice of Beowulf, Angelina Jolie that scares me so her as Grendel's mother is great I guess. But from what the trailers showed, it seemed as if a lot of the movie is incorrect in the description in the epic tale. But I will be the judge of it when I see it.
By the way, I saw a castle where is the mead hall?

Why build character when you already are one?

With most movie adaptations of books, I think it's best to judge them on their own merits, or lack thereof. Which is "better" is sort of irrelevant-- did you enjoy both for what they were?The_Celtic_Bard wrote: But from what the trailers showed, it seemed as if a lot of the movie is incorrect in the description in the epic tale. I am no Beowulf fan, but I'll be dollars to donuts that this movie is not a strict retelling of the story. Still, it looks pretty entertaining in it's own right as a spectacle and I intend to watch it with that in mind (plus, I love 3-D movies )
