Like someone else said, I guess I really don't know what pure is. I'm just saying that IMO there's nothing that compares to the Sindt. If you want to play the tinwhistle get a Sindt, stop thinking there's something better out there, and concentrate on learing to play the darn thing.

Hmm, I think a prob. with the high end poll is that I think not many people get a chance to play lots of diffrent kinds of high end whisltes unless they are very lucky!

My O'Roirdan concert set C/D especially the high B on the D body. Always comes on clean and clear, without being harsh.

Amen to that! You should see some of the crap that goes into organ pipes to give them overtones! There are dozens of ranks (groups) of pipes that look exactly the same (to most people) but sound dramatically different due to overtone series.

Sorry I keep bringing up organs, but with 4000+ pipes each, you get a lot more experience with ovetones and different types of sound than any collection of whistles ;-)

Another vote for the Hoover, trad bore brass. Sings like a bird, not at all harsh but soooo sweet sounding.

I'm afraid that I have to respectfuly disagree with you, Blackhawk. Answers like that are typical from people with limited exposure to quality whistles. Clearly, the proper response to the poll should be Burke, not Burke. What were you thinking?
I officially hang my head in shame. In my own feeble defense, Burke was going to be my second choice, Vaporlock! :sniffle: Is it too late to change my vote?

Nickt, I'm just having fun here, not making fun of you in any way. I always enjoy your posts, and this is no exception.

Well - Kerry Pro, Rose, O'Riordan in that order.

Not sure of the value of the poll really - seemed like a good idea at the time, but I think it would only work if we could get all the makes up (not possible having checked).

I am surprised at Kerry Pro though - the one and only one I played was low down on my list of purity. Maybe it was a one-off. Rose and O'Riordan I would've expected.

My collapsible Laughing Whistle. It's sound is so sweet my wife will let me play it in the car while she's driving! It's not a loud whistle, which makes it perfect for noodling in hotel rooms, or backstage, or .......

My Laughing Whistle is the purest one I've ever tried.
My Burke Brass Pro Sessions is still my favorite over all.

It was in along with Hoover, Thin Weasel and others, but unfortunately the poll only allows a max of 10 (I needed upwards of 30) so they got deleted.
