Amen to that! You should see some of the crap that goes into organ pipes to give them overtones! There are dozens of ranks (groups) of pipes that look exactly the same (to most people) but sound dramatically different due to overtone series.
Sorry I keep bringing up organs, but with 4000+ pipes each, you get a lot more experience with ovetones and different types of sound than any collection of whistles

purest sounding high-ender
i believe michael burke's whistles are not just the purest, their also the sweetest and rich in tone
I officially hang my head in shame. In my own feeble defense, Burke was going to be my second choice, Vaporlock! Is it too late to change my vote?vaporlock wrote:I'm afraid that I have to respectfuly disagree with you, Blackhawk. Answers like that are typical from people with limited exposure to quality whistles. Clearly, the proper response to the poll should be Burke, not Burke. What were you thinking?blackhawk wrote:It was a tough choice, between Burke and Burke, but after careful thought I chose Burke over Burke. I think I made the right choice....if I change my mind later, can I come back and change it to Burke?
Nickt, I'm just having fun here, not making fun of you in any way. I always enjoy your posts, and this is no exception.

Well - Kerry Pro, Rose, O'Riordan in that order.
Not sure of the value of the poll really - seemed like a good idea at the time, but I think it would only work if we could get all the makes up (not possible having checked).
I am surprised at Kerry Pro though - the one and only one I played was low down on my list of purity. Maybe it was a one-off. Rose and O'Riordan I would've expected.

Remember not to forget. Now, why am I here?

Now the site is requiring at least 100 characters in this box. It would have been nice to know that bit of information before I hit submit the first time!

My choice isn't listed.
My collapsible Laughing Whistle. It's sound is so sweet my wife will let me play it in the car while she's driving! It's not a loud whistle, which makes it perfect for noodling in hotel rooms, or backstage, or .......
