Tully Whistles

I’m obsessed! I am desperately seeking a silver Tully in D. If anyone knows the whereabouts of one in a honest sale for a reasonable offer ( it’ll help pay off the Christmas debts   ) I’m listening. New or used but not abused, gently or generously played. Somebody help me become a Tully owner!

A Tully whistle is almost next door to ya, here in Ohio … but it’s in the key of C. Gorgeous whistle.

Tully silver in C here in Tennessee, too. Keep looking…

Reg

Not a Tully, but John Sindt makes a very beautiful D
whistle with a silver tube and a delrin head. Have one.
Never played a Tully but it’s not unthinkable
that the Sindt sounds better. Also it’s cheaper.
Also you can get one.

That’s an option should a Tully not turn up. Does john have a website or does he sell by word of mouth?
I know many have commented on his whistles here.

No site, you have to phone him. I think folks here have
his number; a search will find it; also Dale probably has
his number on the main board.

The Delrin head is very fine and it looks very good.
The whistle sounds very good, it sounds like silver.
I believe the price is 120.

Of course the silver whistle from hell is the copeland.

John’s email address (Sindtwhistle@aol.com)

He’s been very responsive to emails I have sent.

No teasing now, I bite if provoked!

I just wanted to report that Erik is still alive and well in Colorado Springs.
He moved here last year with his family and is getting himself situated so he can start making whistles again mid 2008. I don’t know what his current backlog is.
I recently saw him at a session playing a new bodhran that he made from scratch (a fine instrument!) and his weapon on choice for a whistle was a Busman (ahh…gossip) His real love of course is the flute, he played very well on his Ormiston keyed flute most of the night.

Reporting live from Colorado Springs,

Mr.Nate

I don’t know what the tully sounds like.
Doc Jones said it has an ‘innocent’ tone.
An I right that it’s a quiet whistle?

My Tully Soliloquy is the same one that Wanderer reviewed here, complete with clips. I’m not sure it’s a typical Tully. Seems like the window is a bit different from ones that were pictured on his website at one time.

Well, I’ve got one, number 123, sterling with black delrin fipple, tuneable. Although this is not the “quiet” one and is moderate in volume. It’s more of a collector model for me, so I’ll hang on to it. A very pretty well made whistle with a fairly traditional sound and mine has some air in the tone (not chiff), especially when leaned into.

The Tully SS “C” that i have doesn’t have a number stamped on it. It has a wooden fipple, and the windway and blade are the width of the beak, not the very small windway as in the review mentioned here.

It, too, is very pleasant, not loud, and breathy if you lean into it. I reckon if someone wanted it I’d part with it. It’s in a nice box, too!

Reg

PM’d ya Reg.

I have a silver Tully in D that I may want to part with. Mail me.
