Surprisingly low ending price for ebay flute?

What was wrong with this flute?

The cracks can be repaired, and a new headjoint doesn’t cost too much. Maybe it was too short (HP or Eb)?
I did try to ask for a McGee indicator but of course he measured the wrong lenght, and then I forgot about the auction…

Eb flute (total lenght 62 cm)

Yup. I wish I had seen this.

Yeah I thought so. Nice looking flute though.

Me too. Dunno why my searches missed it. But I may yet get to see it as the buyer has contacted me with a view to me repairing and overhauling it… I’ve done a flute for him previously.

Hi Jem I was a bit suprised too but it is Eb, great key to play in though. When its repaired I’ll post a comment or two..!
Do you think its Cocus..?

The wood looks very similar to my cocus flute…

Yes, it’s cocus. Nothing else used for flutes in that period looks remotely like that!
Nick, I’ll reply to your e-mail later…

It might be that the market has gone soft on more expensive items or it may be that this one simply didn’t show up in most British, Irish, Australian, Canadian and US eBayers’ browsers, thus went unnoticed.

It might also have to do with everyone being preoccupied with Royal Weddings, the demise of Bin Laden, etc. When selling, its best to cancel an auction while something big is going on. When buying however, such times can make for some amazing deals.

Could also be that everyone is broke… :boggle:

Word, ma brutha.
