Might be fun to see what we’re all blowing so post a picture of your whistle collection, big or small. Let the drooling commence!
*Credit to C&Fer “narrowdog” for inspiring this thread by posting a picture of his collection in another …and it’s not a bad idea to have a picture for insurance purposes.
The Generation Bb is ancient. Everything else has been acquired in the last 12 months or so.
I still need a whole lot more…
(Not the greatest photo, but my computer’s gone belly-up, so I don’t have access to Photoshop right now)
I see that. And I’m very, very jealous of the bag. You had hinted that your friend might be willing to make more. Any further information on that?
I’m still missing a bunch of keys. I don’t have an E, F#, G, Ab, or Db. I’m probably in the market for a G should something turn up that catches my eye. The others I’ll likely add should a need arise. Also, I wouldn’t mind upgrading my A whistle. The GG is great value but the key is so pleasing to my ear that spending money on a whistle with a more complicated sound seems justified. The G and A may be good reasons to eventually try a maker with whom I’m unfamiliar …and that’s always fun. It’s really not hard to talk myself into buying another whistle.
This is one box. Generations, Walton, Clare, pvc DIY, and some black ones I don’t remember. If whistles are left alone long enough, I think they multiply.
I suspect many whistles are nomadic by nature.
I know there are whistles I’d like to add to the family and I keep toying with the idea of selling off a couple.
I think I could talk myself into an Onyx low D if more sound samples popped up as good as the one I’ve heard. Alternatively, my Copeland F probably deserves to be owned by someone that can actually play it. I have a very difficult time getting a good seal on B2 because I have thick fingers and the hole scoops pretty deep. I had one day about a month back when I picked it up and it sounded half decent for me. I’d hoped I was turning a corner with it, but that doesn’t appear to be the case.
after two years, of whistling, i’ll say, that WHOA hasn’t really bitten me as severely as some of you.. right now, the only key i have are D, C, Bb and G, and i rarely play the last. but i reeeally want to get an E. say, have you tried self-making an E whistle from a generation Eb? and gah, i’m jealous of that bag.
