Hey all… Well… I almost decided against it but I must sell it as I need the $ to help purchase my Abell Set (which is coming in the next couple weeks!). I fully intend on buying another when I can afford it. It’s condition is near perfect. Just a few minor tiny scratches on the bell end… So minor that they don’t show up on the closeup pic I have of it. They are $130 new. $100 takes it. Please respond via email & I’ll send a pic… Thanks…
Minor scratches on the Silkstone alloy
whistles come out with extra fine
steel wool–rub lightly in the direction
of the ‘grain,’ around the barrel.
BAH!
I just bought one of these not 4 days ago, and it is easily my most favorite instrument. As in-tune as my PVC version, without the slight PVC overtones that I can hear. A little more comoplexity in tone. The entire whistle is louder, yet the 2nd octave is easier on the ears. Easier breath control than the thin weasel I just recently let go of. I took it to band practice the day I got it, practiced for 10 hours, and you could see the new-whistle-smiles-of-appreciation from my bandmates. The tuning slide works easily smoothly, but once I have it set, it doesn’t slide around on me.
Someone is definitely going to get a good buy here. At least I can console myself in that Thom sent me a little 1.5" plastic recorder thingie with mine.

Greg,
Does that mean it has the tonal properties of Perry Como??
Hot Diggity Dog Diggity Zoom what you do to me!

How I miss Perry Como, who passed
away a few months ago. I thought
he was underappreciated–lovely voice,
lovely phrasing, and a really good
man (not at all comoplex).
I remember on his TV program
he had a special part where he did
religious songs from different
traditions–and he went so far
as to sing Jewish liturgical music,
wearing a skullcap and prayer shawl!
Once the show started a couple of
minutes late because there was a
fire backstage. Perry came out,
explained what had happened, that
they had put it out, and then
looked directly into the camera
and said emphatically and a bit
sternly: ‘Now mother, don’t get
excited!’ Betcha Waylen Jennings
wouldn’t have said that.
My Silkstone has been sold…
sigh…Wish I could,ve jumped on that
