Well, the address and marque do not exclude it being simple system, though more likely on a Bohm tube than a conoid one if so… but that serial no. wouldn’t tally for a conoid 8-key. It could be a band flute or a non-Bohm system, but I think they’d mention that, ditto if it were a piccolo. The lack of extra descriptors suggest to me that it will be a Bohm concert flute and probably HP for such a low estimate.
Any Ideas about who made it??
I would say Prowse, as it is a Clementi Branded, but it doesn’t looks 100% prowse’s work.
it really looks to me as a rudall series 2000-3000! (my #3830 has very similar shape)

typically houses will provide photos on request, often to those who have been frequent bidders in the past.
many have good photo facility, but others may just use a camera phone and the images are not as detailed.
this one is a good shot from GH. they must have upgraded their stuff.
typical clementi flute…appears to be Post-Prowse…in that the large finger holes, key touch structure, etc, were very much of the vogue after Prowse left to construct on his own.
verylikely to have been guild flute built to spec and stamped for clementi.
notice there is a missing ivory ring to RH piece. the socket. You should have that repaired asap, radcliffe.
this one might not be so bad in that it’s post-prowse, whose foot notes were woeeeeeefully flat…by more than 20cents. on the D.
I was in GH yesterday on another matter, I asked about the Rudall Carte and nobody seemed to know anything about it!
I did get a quick (a few seconds) look at the Clementi, the tuning slide was partly open showing that the wood covers the outer part of the outer part.
The results of the GH auction onthe 18th are online now. The OP RC&Co, whatever it was, got ÂŁ260 at hammer - well above estimate.
Interestingly, this evening this has appeared on eBay from our old friends magginisupplies - went for ÂŁ110 (hammer) at the auction! Ambitious as ever!
