OT? $1 Instruments

I’ve introduced to you a $1 cane whistle sometime ago, but now I’ve got another $1 instrument.

A $1 harmonica in the key of C. Just $1, yet $1; it plays okay. I can play Sally Gardens on it now.

So, I was wondering, any of you who have bought a musical instrument at a dollar/pound/etc store? Did/does it actually play? Ever thought of basking or join a session with it?

Can’t say that I have. Remember though that $1 US dollar is like 0.49 British pounds. I got a $3.00 harmonica last Saturday. That would be a little closer to 1 pound.

The word is “busking” though I do bask in the glow of my own sense of proficiency.

But alas, I am not myself today. Alas.

I bought six spoons for 5 kroner (80 cents) at a flea market a few years ago and I have played them on stage, though I wouldn’t dream of playing the spoons at a session!

You’re alas? Dude! I thought you were a lad! Wow, you really aren’t yourself today, are you!

Someone had to say it …

I love thrift stores. I could live in them. I’ve bought recorders and maracas and harmonicas and stuff. I can’t honestly say I’ve ever touched them afterwards, but for 5 or 10 cents you (at least, I) can’t not buy them.

bah..beat me to it

Wow, 3 whole posts in over 2 1/2 years! I guess Norwegians really don’t say much!

My favorite harmonica I got cheap from the children’s section of a book/office supply store, but, I generally have not had such great luck with cheap harmonicas. It was an exception. The reeds are usually not very good and tend to stick, in the long run. I like the mid-range Hohners, especially the Blues Harp.
