Old Taylor-style full set for sale

Concert pitch. Plays well. Not by the Taylors but in their style, and has some age to it. I got it as a box of parts, fixed it up.

For more info, click http://www.whitmerpipes.com/

When I figure out how to upload sound files, I’ll put them up.

I’ll be bringing them to the Northeast Tionol, Oct 21 - 24.

Aluminum mounts, nothing like 'em.

The new chanter I made next to the old worn-out one which came with.

Wait, Whitmer’s Taylor style chanter?
This SO AWESOME!!!/)^3^(\

Mr. Whitmer, aren’t you going to make such pipes now? I mean, this one looks gorgeous, and if you start making fullsets in this style it going to be a great instruments for those who like that kind of things, considering the top quality of your instruments.

…just curious - how do you know that the set was not by the Taylors?

I took them to a pipemaker generally acknowledged as an expert on the work of the Taylors. Not Taylor, said he. My recollection of specifics is a bit hazy. I recall he said some of the turning shapes were not found in Taylor work. Also the way the regulator “ears” (key pin mounts) were set into the sides of the regulators was different from Taylor work.

There was an interesting thread on C&F recently about Taylor-style sets. None of the sets pictured there looked to be by the same hand as this one; that’s my guess, anyway. The thread:
