New Rose

I just came up on Fred Rose’s list and received a lovely little blackwood and silver whistle from him.
It has such lonely beauty in the tone. I’ve owned some wonderful high D’s but this one
suits me to the ground. Thanks Fred.

A Rose is the only whistle on my covet list.

Now that you have had chance to play it. Was it worth the wait?

Do you mean me Pammy? If so yes it is sweet. I told Fred I wasn’t bothered about it being loud.
It is nice to play at home or under a tree but can also project really well if you want to turn it up. I really like it.

How long did you have to wait?

I’ve been waiting seven months and counting for a flute that was supposed to be ready “in a few weeks.” I suppose whistles have priority, but still.

Meanwhile, I’ve been drawn into the mystical world of the shakuhachi. It’s a completely different experience from ITM. Deeper, more profound, if I may say so.

But I still would jump at the chance to buy a Rose flute if anyone has one available.

It was a bit unusual in that I went on the list and then cancelled because of an injury then went back on. Because of this Fred accidentally forgot about me. I had just sold my wonderful Abel high D and a day or two later out of the blue Fred contacted me. I had not planned on buying another high D but I’m glad I did. So it was a long time nearly 2 years.

A bit off topic I know but hang on for the Rose flute.
I had one for 18 months and sold it back to its original owner it was a lovely flute.
I don’t know why there’s not more said about them on here

Thanks, I haven’t completely given up hope. Eventually I’ll have one, either new or second-hand.

When I spoke to Fred by Email very recently he was designing a completely new flute based on a Boosey Pratterns Perfected.

Now that’s interesting! Maybe he’ll be offering two models now, kind of like the Burn’s Folk and professional models.

No mention of it yet on Fred’s website, but I see he has updated the regular flute page: changing the wood from bubinga to rosewood and the price from 165 UK pounds to 200.
