Fred Rose Whistle.

What can you tell me about these whistles?
They’re beautiful to look at and Mick Woodruff makes his sing; but are they consistant? Easy to care for? What kind of sound do you get from yours? Would you recommend purchasing one?

What can you all tell me about them? Recent review? Anyone?

Thanks,

Rod

You know, I don’t have the whole WhOA thing going–I’m happy with a couple of good whistles. But based on the sound clips I’ve heard, I covet a Rose.

Yeah, that’s my problem. I don’t need a lot of whistles; actually the one I play the most is a Humphrey, but I’m really curious about the Rose. And I’m leaning, towards taking the plunge.

Rod

now you have me interested :smiling_imp: where can i find a rose whistle?

Here’s his web site:

thanks

I have a Fred Rose d’ whistle, which is beautifully made, perfectly in tune, and very easy to blow, especially in the 2nd octave, but a bit on the quiet side for sessions,

I love it, and play it a great deal. Because the octave transition is so sharp and so easy, it’s wonderful for hornpipes, especially the fancy Northumbrian ones I love to play.

I’ll try to figure out how to post a sound clip when I get a minute.

Thanks Brianholton, that would be great.

How would you describe the sound? Clear? Pure? A bit of chiff?

And how does it stand up to use? As well as other wooden whistles? Is yours made from Blackwood?

Anthing you can tell me would be much appreciated.

Best,
