Thanks everybody. The flute is sold.
I’m selling my Terry McGee Bb keyless flute in blackwood. The flute is in perfect condition. I’m selling it because there’s no need for me to have a Bb flute in the US (I’m only here about one month out of the year) as well as in Ireland.
The flute plays beautifully and is in perfect tune and has silver rings and a silver slide.
It has the Rounded Rectangle embouchure. In Terry’s words:
“For those looking for the easiest and/or loudest playing flute anywhere, the Rounded Rectangle is the way to go.
"Those needing to move easily between wooden flute and metal flute will find the Rounded Rectangle with either the thinned or eccentric bore the most convenient.”
The head joint is the Thinned Head. “The head in general was “thinned” but an eccentric bulge was created at the embouchure. This enabled the chimney depth to be increased, but the overall diameter to be kept down at this point. This is the lightest head.”
The flute comes in a beautiful handmade mahogany case with dove tailed corners.
I am selling the flute for $1,300, which includes the cost of shipping in the U.S. I believe the current cost of this flute with this case is about $1,700, with some wait. (Terry’s price sheet is out of date). I’ve no camera but the flute is pretty straight-forward. In a bright light you can still see some reddish-brown highlights in the flawless blackwood that Terry uses.
I am open to partial trades. If you’re in the market for a Bb flute you’d be hard pressed to come up with a better one than this.
