Lunasa: You Have to Dig These Guys!

I have two questions: (As of now)

  1. Do they ever tour in the U.S., If so where?

  2. What is the best album they have cut in your opinion.

According to their web site they ahve several dates in the U.S in the coming year.

I really like the Kinnity Sessions, but Otherworld was the first of theirs I ever bought and I have a particular fondness for it.

BTW, I saw them in Cleveland in April in a small venue and they were wonderful.

They do tour the U.S. (see above link). Last year at the Florida Tionol, Cillian Vallely was one of our piping instructors. He is a mighty piper/whistler, and the experience of watching him play, makes listening to him all that much more pleasurable.

Another recording you may wish to check out is: Callan Bridge, which he recorded with his brother Niall who plays concertina and composed a good number of the tunes on that disc. Great tuneage, I highly recommend it.

I saw them in Albany NY a year or so ago, and they were fabulous. Very exciting players.

They’re coming to San Jose, in September…while I’m in Ireland. What’s wrong with this picture??

Otherworld!!! No, Merry Sisters of Fate!!! No, Otherworld!!! I can’t decided. It would be easier if they were one double album!

Woo hoo! Houston show in October!

Dublin in September is lovely, take a stroll in the Botanical Gardens and after that it is just a ten minute stroll to the Gravediggers.

Slan,

…and now,back to topic…

Just went to their site and saw that they will be in St. Louis in March 2005.
I’ll be there. I am also going to contact our new entainment center here and see if they can be convinced to play here between shows. That would be great.

Gravediggers is on my list, as is The Brazen Head, Kilmainham Gaol, National Museum, the Book of Kells, St John Gogarty’s and a million other places. I love Dublin.

On Aug 21st, just 9 miles over the mountain from my hovel …
