FS - Special Copeland hybrid nickel d, old and newer

Old Copelands are even and mild in tone, without any shrillness. Newer ones can honk, but they tend to be pretty darn loud. I am offering for sale a hybrid nickel d. The body is an old one, at least 10 years old, and it is longer (and thinner at the bottom) than the current ones, and it lends itself to a softer, more even tone than many modern ones. The body was drawn by hand, in a slower way than the modern ones. The headjoint is about five years old, with dimensions closer to the modern ones than the older ones. The result is a well-balanced instrument with octaves that go together perfectly. It is in tune and sweet, loud enough for a session but not too loud for a living room or recording situation. There are no problem notes. The tone is not breathy at all, and not too pure, just perfect. This whistle will be someone’s favorite. $360 including US shipping (more for international shipping). E-mail if interested.

Wow, Jessie: This is the first Copeland I have ever heard described that makes me wish I had the money to purchase it. It sounds like everything I like (and some don’t…) in an instrument. I hope it finds a home with someone who appreciates it.

Best to you and your family on an incredibly hot and humid PA day.

Picture? I’d love to see this “hybrid.”

The hybrid looks like a regular Copeland nickel d whistle.

It’s the playability that’s a bit different.
