I am selling my full set of Childress uilleann pipes, concert pitch, made in 1999. They have been nothing short of a workhorse. They have a Taylor style folded bass regulator, wood faced bass drone puck, maximum mounts and ferrules - blackwood with stag antler and brass.
Everything functioning and buzzing along. Regs could use BC’s retuning on tenor and baritone regs on top end as I typically don’t get off the bottom chords… playing original cane reeds. Drones have BC’s synthetic reeds - all going very consistently with no problems at all. Chanter playing nicely also. Back around 2000 T.B. did some bending on the keys to make them more ergonomic but other than that is is as it came 10 years ago.
Set has the usual wear and tear - chips out of antler here and there, small dents on main stock, little dent on bend of bass drone slide - put there by Paddy League the first time he ever tried the uilleann pipes (good story involved) and one fixed reg mount on tenor (glued and pinned by BC back probably 5 years ago - but not noticeable and never cracked again… cracked the first time by the key getting snagged in my sleeve - DOH!) but nothing really major. In fact, that may have been one of the two only times the set needed servicing by BC - and it is played in sessions, in rehearsals, or on stage constantly so it most definitely has many rewarding hours under its belt.
Will include images as soon as I get a chance to take them. Reason for selling: as anyone who knows me will understand, divorce is expensive as is the downturn in economy and as an academic type, I cannot afford the life to which I have grown accustomed… have too many instruments and cannot keep more than one set of pipes (already sold one set a few years ago - and trying to sell off a harp, box, and other stuff)
