Does anyone have experience with whether there is a noticeble difference in the sound between the older gold plated Rose’s and the newer silver? Thanks

There won’t be any difference because the metal is nowhere involved with the voicing. All voicing elements are wood, including the windway roof, which is why the Rose can have a tapered windway, like a baroque-voiced recorder (or at least, seems to have, on visual inspection).
The metal is simply an aesthetic reinforcement on the Rose.
Are you asking whether the different metals affect the sound of the whistle, or are you asking if Fred Rose’s newer whistles differ in tone, playability, etc. from his older whistles?
Agreed-- unless Fred has changed his design, the color/material of the rings is purely an esthetic choice.
AvienMael and Paul it was the former. Whether the use of the fold plated brass or the silver made any difference. Thanks much.

Out of curiosity, does anybody know if Fred Rose has change the voicing of his whistles though out the years?
