For all you size queens ......

… feast your eyes on this little beauty.

And you thought low Ds were hard to get around. :astonished:

that’s cool! It looks like a Dr. Seuss instrument.

How long do you think before Zubivka buys one?

you lowly termite-eatin’ Tasmanian devil!

given my sluggish learning curve with dear old Mr Strathmann’s flute, answer is between two and three years.

Meanwhile, I still could coax the master to build his whistle… er, flute thing, in barytone F below middle-C

The photo reminds me of Darby O’Gill and the Little People.

Howdy,

Pikers. A real sax player won’t be satisfied with anything less than this:

Of course, unfortunately the sub-contrabass sax has gone the way of the dinosaur. There are less then a dozen in existance anymore, and I don’t think any of them are playable. But it’s a great concept.

I actually saw someone playing a contrabass once. Though I heard it for a good half mile before it came into view. It was pretty amazing. Once I got close enough I could really feel him play every note. Like riding in a car with the subs turned way up.

I want one! I played the baritone sax and that was just starting to get low enough for me! Unfortunately, as an instrument gets lower, the price goes up exponentially! There is just something about the sound of low saxes that excites me!

For any odd or deep sounding instruments I think it’s best to go digital.

It’s the Yamaha WX5 wind controller with VL70-m Virtual Acoustic Tone Generator. These things are on eBay all the time:
