Flute identification

I am new to this site so I hope I have posted in the correct forum. Wondered if anyone could identify this flute please. The flute is approx. 25 years old. I have attached a link to photos which I am hoping are accessible.

Many thanks

If you can provide a link where one doesn’t have to set up an account to see the pics, that would be nice.

Hi Nanohedron, really sorry but I am totally new to this and I am not sure how else to post pics. I have looked for guidance in help section and I thought I had posted properly. Any tips on posting pics would be welcome.

You did ok, but you used a site/service that requires people to log in. Retry using dropbox, imgur, or some other site where you can make the photo completely public. Alternatively you probably can change the privacy / security settings on your photo.

Even logged into my hotmail account I can’t see it…

Hi again, hopefully the following link will enable you to view the flute photos!

Yep, the link works for me.

Is that Mark Hoza’s old symbol for his “Kything” flutes?

Good call, Jayhawk – I knew I’d seen that symbol, and on a flute with brass fittings to boot.

I don’t know. It looks nothing like the Mark Hoza flute I owned, or any I’ve seen pictures of. Not the sockets, not the fittings, not even the wood.

I remeber this mark to be used from a us maker that sells on ebay.com about 5-8 years ago.
He was not a professional flute maker one so I have no real info about him.
hope this can help anyway.

Hi all, thanks for the replies. I don’t think it is a Mark Hoza flute. It was purchased new in England about 20 years ago and was given as a present. Any other ideas?

This is a long shot - it wouldn’t be Ari DeKeyzer?

The only thing that makes me think it might be is the D and K in the logo. Also the use of brass fittings, which he was doing when I got my Ari flute in 1996.

But it doesn’t look like his style overall - the rings are bigger than he usually uses, and the end cap is not his rounded style. And while I’ve seen a fair few of his flutes over the years, I’ve never seen that logo. And a web search doesn’t turn any up either.

For reference, his website is http://www.pipesandflutes.ie

Nice looking flute - cool case too

Nice sounding flute too.

Thanks for the replies, yes it is a Joe Kerr Flute!

If anyone is interested, I have just had a Joe Kerr flute in - no serial number - also with a barrel crack, but no case. I’ve cleaned and fettled it up and, despite a rather large embouchure, it’s a cracker. It also has an alternative whistle head - on the quiet side in whistle configuration, but would be very OK amplified. The flute configuration is stonking, though a smaller embouchure would be better. (It’s available - pm me for more…)

I think his flute is made by Stephan Morvan.
