I really don’t understand how to play cranns. I know basically what they are, but I don’t know a rule of thumb for what grace notes to use.

I can safely say that there aren’t any thumbs involved at all.

buh dum dum. . .

anyway, I’ve learned a couple of different ways and have sort of reached the conclusion that it really doesn’t matter “how” you do it. It’s the sound that matters. That being said, the way I usually do it is by cutting with both index fingers top, bottom top for a long crann, or just top, bottom for a shorter note.
