CP: Thornton Whistle stuff

Hi all,

A few things really,

  1. My whistle tour is down to it’s last few individuals and so far I’ve had a little bit of feedback. Some thought it was fine and one individual (thankfully) commented that there was a clogging issue.
If any owners of my wooden topped whistles have a similar problem please let me know and I’ll do my best to solve the problem. My personal one doesn’t clogg much at all but I will say the windway is narrow. I did design that deliberatly for tonal purposes

In the mean time I’ve suspended the sale of the wooden topped whistle until I successfully redesign the mouth piece.

2)
I’ll have some Low D’s for sale soon so keep watching the site. Actually there’s a Low F for sale right now if anyone wants it.
I’ll try to get sound clips up soon too.

Thank you all for supporting all the fine instrument makers on the forum and for playing fine music.
There’s a lot of super quality makers out there!

Oh yeah, the third thing…

You’ll notice that I have upped my prices a bit.
The cost of materials and shipping has jumped a bit in the last year or so but I promise I won’t increase prices for the rest of 2008 and beyond.

Pictures! We must have pictures!

I’m planning on ordering a low D next week. I’m really excited!!

Agreed. I may be in the market for a new low D soon. I’m looking forward to pics, audio clips, eventual reviews, etc.

Pics and audio is now on Tommy’s web site…I got a D whistle with an Ebony top - can’t wait to add the Low D to make it a set!

Slan,

Wow, that’s a big E hole on the low D… sounds really, though!

That F# hole is a big one alright.
I’ve tested it with friends and the result is that if your hands are big enough to stretch the spread of the whistle, your fingers will be big enough to cover the holes.
