All the best!

I like the tone… sounds “trad” and tube-ish - like pipe… some might say “dirty” - I like that, but it also sounds a little weak in the bottom end, and like you’re pushing in the upper octave, maybe? Of course this is the problem with sound clips… your playing and my playing are not the same, but I am wondering if you could comment on it’s playing characteristics?

Of course this is the problem with sound clips

Unfortunately this is always the case. But to put it in perspective, I did record the sample in my kitchen with linoleum tiled floor, high ceiling and plastered walls which will brighten the sound of the higher notes.

I do tend to push the second octave a bit but that’s a bit of a bad habit I have. You don’t have to do that with this whistle or my low whistles in general. My mouthpiece design makes for an easy jump to the second octave and also you can push hard too if you like to. But if you push too hard the second octave can get a bit sharp.

The lower notes are a little on the gentle side but not quiet.
But because I make the things I’m not that objective. Its just that I haven’t played other makes of Low whistles in 5 or 6 years. The last low D I owned was a Pat O’Riordan creation.

your playing and my playing are not the same

That’s it. The thing is that I make whistles (and pipes) to suit my playing and hope that they suit others too.

Well it didn’t sell on ebay but it’s still for sale.

It’s the last commercial Low D that i will make. For no other reason only that i would like to concentrate on Low G, A, and F
There are lots of great low D makers out there, too many to mention.

I will always play one of my own Low D’s for recoding and other session work.

$130 or any other offer.
