Bizzare Story on Yahoo News

Folks, I’ll let this one speak for itself.

Found this story on slashdot.

I knew it! I just knew it! Mulder had it right all along.

The sad thing is that its the right argument for the wrong reasons. A gun-happy US with nukes on the Moon is not something any sane person would want to contemplate. Perhaps Helyer is just using E.T. as a ruse to draw public attention to a more serious underlying concern (that’s giving a BIG benefit of the doubt).

I figure a race of extraterrestrials who have thought processes
like humans is almost as likely as a race of fairies living in
mushroom circles, and we need to thus be prepared.

Oh, those wacky Canadians, eh?

Roger

It’s our long dark winter nights, having our eyesight scorched by the northern lights, and too much poteen and screech in front of the log fire!

makrB

Not sure if I should agree with them or not.

The alien and Canadian connection goes back to the Roswell crash and the reverse engineered antigravity driven craft developed by the aliens and the Studebaker corporation: http://www.notweird.com/bugsport/page1.html. Even the Masons get involved! The Crystal People have not made an appearance, yet, though.

Rod

crackpot

Oh no. Fairy circles do exist. They are quite common around here.

The crop circles that we heard so much about in the 1990’s might be the result of the fairies doing more elaborate dances. I bet they got a new caller. “Circle right, circle left, promenade round and do-si-do.”

Stinkin, filthy aliens. My cousin Cletus once got took by them and they done terrible things to his … well, you know to his privates. He ain’t ever been right since. I say we nuke em all. In fact, we should launch preemptive strikes at Mars and Venus now…

Drat, got so excited I almost spilled my drink. Well anyway, have a joyous and peaceful holiday season.
:stuck_out_tongue:

That’s so funny I almost threw up my breakfast laughing.
No more reading Walden on a full stomach.

It’s good to know that Einstein’s stupid idea about not being able to exceed the speed of light is wrong. I never liked it anyhow.

Arthur Rackham! My favorite book illustrator.

I know these are only lies…:

Speaking of mushrooms:

What is probably the largest living organism on earth has been discovered in the Malheur National Forest in eastern Oregon. A fungus living three feet underground is estimated to cover 2,200 acres. After testing samples from various locations, scientists say it is all one organism.

Officially known as Armillaria ostoyae, or the honey mushroom, the fungus is 3.5 miles across and takes up 1,665 football fields. The small mushrooms visible above ground are only the tip of the iceberg.

Experts estimate that the giant mushroom is at least 2,400 years old, but could be 7,200 years old.

That is indeed a very odd story.

With the present Canadian government on its way out, maybe this guy will get back in.

Sounds like an Adventist sect, from Japan.

As often as I hear “football fields” used as a unit of length, perhaps it should be added to the system of Customary Measures.

Is that American football fields, Canadian football fields or English football fields?

djm

It’s American football fields. If you have issues with Imperial Measures, learn from the former Defence Minister and take it up with Parliament… you might want to wait till after the election.

Nothing Imperial about yards. Canadian football fields are larger than American football fields. Our balls are bigger, too, but that’s a story for another time.

djm

:really: That may be, but it has no bearing on performance.
