Arpha vs Seivane

I know that there are also amount other good makers in Spain ,but these just have websites to compare.
So, if we put these on same line , what do u think.Comments please

First off you are trying to compare to completely different kinds of gaita, if you were aware of that you’d probably not ask that question. I own a Seivane gaita, and have played an ARPHA gaita, the later of which was a mess. The diameter of the holes in the stocks was too small, and the whole instrument was constricted, these had to be reamed out. The blowpipe diameter was also amazingly narrow and had to be re-reamed to a more appropriate size. Also the bag was a bit small, I’m sure after re-working it it may be a fine player. My opinion though is if you are going to charge as much as they do for a gaita, it’s not worth, cause you’ll have to spend more time and money fixing it.
In regards to Seivane I have nothing but praise for them, if you look further down there is pics of one of their gaita I am selling. In the world of bagpipe making I have never seen a cleaner instrument, never. When I received it in the middle of winter here I just let it warm up and pulled it out of the box, it was perfect, as it should be. Their instruments have a very balanced, and sweet sound. I really like the Seipal reeds it came with, it’s a shame these reeds won’t fit in my Varela set, I’m sick of those horrible blue things with metal tongues. The punteiro easily goes up to the second octave F and on a really good day it can get A. I know a few other forumites here are Seivane owners, so hopefully they can chime in too.

I don´t know if you get an ASTURIAN bagpipe made by ARHPA or a GALICIAN bagpipe.

They are differents instruments. I only know that ARHPA factory makes GALICIAN BAGPIPES IN B FLAT FOR BAGPIPE BANDS.

They also makes C and Bb Asturian Bagpipes (for solo playing and for bands).

I don´t like their bagpipes, but this is an aesthethic question. Too postmodern for me.

Talking about Galician Makers in Galicia:

There are two great makers: Seivane and Anton Corral. Seivane makes female Gaitas (sweet sound, less volume). Anton Corral (and the pupils of his school) makes male Gaitas (strident sound, more volume).

I play seivane bagpipes, but I also have some chanters and one bagpipe made by Anton Corral. I like them all.

But if you live in another country, not in Spain, your best options for order a bagpipe are SEIVANE and ANTON VARELA.

They have experience sending bagpipes in all world. They are very good and his bagpipes sounds very well.
“I’m sick of those horrible blue things with metal tongues”

Well, I´m playing with those horrible blue things and I´m sure you will love the result ))

Well, this been like lucky thread now :)Quite much important info what to share to all of us.
Pity ,that some good makers don’t have e- maill connections.

ARHPA is rebuilding their website, I think it could provide more info that their current site. I don’t know if they are making Galician gaitas but their Asturian and Uilleann pipes are top quality instruments.
Cheers
