Another telescoping whistle besides Laughing Whistle

Found this on ebay. I thought the Laughing whistle was the only telescoping
whistle! :boggle:

Well it seems it was until your posting. Interesting. I don’t own a laughing whistle but it would really be convenient for me.

Maybe this could be the next thing in whistles, if the makers of whistles would like to like to put their minds to it. A telescoping Low D etc. would make transporting whistles much easier.

Cool. How well do these things play?

That tubing looks D-shaped…

You had to go and get my curiosity up, I’ve bid, but there’s six days to go…hmmm

It does say “Novelty” in the title, and I can’t tell if the holes are equally sized or not. Would be a pain to have to tune it every time you open it.

Hmmmmm…

That tubing looks D-shaped…

–Which makes it a “D” whistle.

Seriously, though, it makes sense: with that formation, there’s no problem keeping the holes in line.

What next comes to mind is the bore: with 3 different gauges like that, do the inevitable step-like changes inside act like a perturbed bore? (no smart remarks about me, now.)

I’m…sad. I was going to bid on that…now I bet it goes up to 5 million dollars. LOL.

I know - it used to be lot more fun before everyone on this board found eBay and started publicising stuff. You wouldn’t believe some of the whistle bargains Lee Marsh and I used to find just two and a half short years ago.

…very tempted to bid on this one but I do like the high bidder very much… decisions… decisionssssss

There’s a word for what I like to do, which is get on my T1 connection and swoop in with a winning bid at the last second. Some people think that’s not fair or something, but I call it bidding strategy.

Anyway, I want this whistle, but I wouldn’t do that to a musical priest.

edit

FWIW,

It looks to me like this may be a toy whistle and not a musical instrument, based on the fact that the holes appear to be equally spaced and all the same size. That generally indicates that the maker hasn’t made any effort to make the whistle play in tune.

Best wishes,
Jerry

Sniping! That’s the word I was looking for. Thanks, 'Berry!

Well, I don’t know who “Musical Priest” is, but it doesn’t really matter. Nothing of note will happen for about Five days, 23 hours and 55 minutes. And it’s going a lot higher than six pounds, even if it is just a toy (Nice try, though, Jerry).

Ain’t nothing wrong with sniping, though there also isn’t much point with everyone using autobidders.

Well, I don’t know who “Musical Priest” is

Judging from their feedback, it’s somebody who can read German and likes Tori Amos.

My compliments, Sherlock Cranberry.
