Okay, this is a recorder, but still... it's a humdinger of a recorder.

Moscow, Dublin pub. Just a few hours ago. Living legend plays in our pub, drinks whiskey and takes part in our session. Still can't believe he was here. :)

BTW, he also was quite surprised to see the pub chock-full of people who came to listen him :)

This young man is great, and just think how good he’ll be in a few years. He seems very fond of Joanie Madden’s recordings. Also note that Joanie posted her own comment.

This is mostly vocal--but wonderful,
and there is some lovely whistling
in the middle and a short whistle
duet at the end. Key of F.

My kids are usually such hams but when it comes to making our first video, they pretty much froze up. They were soo much better at the Madrigal Dinner in their costumes but the lighting made video impossible.

Hi, "Dad." I thought they sounded fine. You have every right to be proud of them - you have a very musically talented family. :)

Will,

Thank you. I can't take any of the credit, they get all the talent genes from their mom. Ms. Smith is an excellent flute teacher but unfortunately there isn't anyone in our area who gives whistle lessons.

But I gotta tell ya a true story. Here's a picture from the day that Kevin called Wesley on his birthday to encourage his playing.

I am so grateful. It was like having YoYo Mah call to say "Hey-- good luck with that cello!" I'm always floored when artists like Kevin or Joanie Madden or Shannon Heaton do so much to encourage their fans' playing.

I posted this on the Clips forum, but it doesn't get that many looks, so...

My daughter is home for the Christmas holiday. Walking around video taping to show her friends in NYC. Catches me practicing, so she grabs the bodhran and sets up the camera. You can see her warm up for 1/4 second.

Tony's Vid

Post by Irish Marine »

Hi Tony-Thanks for posting that video, it was adorable. My son is only 18 mos. old and he's one of the reasons I picked up the whistle and flute. My wife and I were on our second trip to Ireland in 2005 to visit family, research the family line, and enjoy some tunes when I first picked up the whistle. That lasted about six months and I stopped. Then my son came along and I decided to pick it up again. I hope that one day I get to make a fun vid with my son and I playing together, like the two of you did. That's what the music is all about anyway isn't it-having fun with family and friends?
