Porridge,

I, for one, am getting pretty tired of your puerile self-promotion on this board.

I also see that your talent for fabrication is still intact. Maggie who? On careful study it's clearly Mary Bergin in that picture. But don't try to pretend you've ever whispered in Andrea Corr's ear, mate. Dream on!

Tell us something.: "Tell us something" hits me a bit like someone asking me to tell a joke. I can always think of a hundred of them until someone asks me for one. You know how it is. Right now, I can't think of "something" to tell you. But I have to use at least 100 characters to inform you of that.

Personally, I found Jessie's photo much more interesting, and definitely cuter. Anybody can pose with famous people, but checking a cat's heartbeat? Wow.

But if you look closely, you can almost imagine a small whistle--a G, perhaps?--in George's hand. Now, THAT would be impressive.

Obscure and happy --

Porridge,
I agree with StevieJ. If you don't have anything useful to add then please just be respectful of the rest of us and keep it to yourself. Every post you've added has been either rude, inane, or just plain strange. I'm not sure what your intention is, but i don't think anyone is really appreciating it. If you're just here to cause trouble, there are much better places to do so than on a whistle messageboard.
Please be respectful and thank you for understanding.

Actually, I find this character's post to be quite humorous.

He's just joking around, people. He's not hurting anybody. Just don't click on any more of his threads if you don't find them amusing.

the posts are a bit strange, but harmless. If porridge is indeed our friend Mr. (Lord) Archer. Perhaps some photos from a source other than the beeb might help establish yout bona fides.
Cheers,
jb

p.s that's Maggie Thatcher. Mary Archer is Jeffery's wife.

Maggie May? Geesh, don't most of the British call her "Margaret Thatcher the Children's Milk Snatcher"?

Porridge, in some of your pictures you look strikingly like Jeffrey Archer (now known as Prisoner FF8282) who was convicted of "perjury and perverting the course of justice" and who was investigated for misapproriating funds from a charity helping Kurdish refuges.

This is all good fun but I'm wondering what any of it has to do with whistles?

Okay, Porridge, you clearly have the right to say whatever you want and it is not my job, nor right, to tell you that you can not say what you want. I ask you kindly then, to please just be respectful and considerate of the intended purpose of this forum and how you can contribute to it.
Thank you,
Chris

Hey Folks,

I'm not sure exactly what's going on here, but there seems to be a bit of over-reaction to this post. Certainly it is off topic, and there are currently a number of such topics by a variety of contributors on the board, (including, may I say, our own Undispiuted One!)

Quirky sense of humor?? Has anyone seen a picture of a vaccuum with fipple and finger holes on this board? Has anyone seen a picture of a rat holding a Little Black Whistle?? Quirky, but good for a chuckle, to my mind.

I'm neither defending nor accusing anyone. It just seemed, from a relatively neutral perspective, that there was a lot of reaction going on here, perhaps even disproportionately.

Just my 2 cents.

Vinny

Relax guys. I was sure original post was in jest, but not sure about some of the responses. I'm always a bit leery of posts that cite the "intended purpose of this board." I don't get it; I found nothing inappropriate or rising to the level of misplaced, off-color, biased, inciteful, nasty, rude, crude or anything else objectionable. Granted, I didn't linger over any real pithy, relevant or helpful content, but so what? I think the poster was just having some fun. Enjoy. Play. Share. Be tolerant. (Please)

Well, for those of you who don't understand what the flap is about in this thread, you might try looking at Porridge's posts as a whole: There is a pattern, and it's making some people......uncomfortable.

Hey Folks,

Well, I took Loren's advice (thanks for the suggestion Loren, I hadn't thought of it) and read all of porridge's posts. He's either a tremendous bore, or he's putting us on,(main interest is "self promotion"??.) I tend to believe the latter as any sincerity in what he says would cause me to pity him. (How sad to truly be so wrapped in oneself!) And while I can see how some of his posts would make people "uncomfortable", I don't see him assailing anyone as we previously experienced on another board.

If you don't like his posts, then ignore them, for attention, I think, is what he seeks. If he gets out of hand, I trust Dale or Rich to deal with it appropriately.

Either way, it's not worth getting our knickers in a twist.
