Who's the worst WhOA addict of them all?

Post by Whistlin' Will »

Step forward, veteran whistlers, and make your claim to The Worst WhOA Addict On This Message Board! (30 whistles, you say? Do I hear 35? 40? )

Here's a page that explains what WhOA is, in case you don't know the term.

And this page has a poem to help you get in the mood.

Looking forward to the results. (Or maybe not.)

It's gotta be PhilO.

He has at least one of every kind of whistle.

His appetite has taken him out of Whistledom and into the more obscure instruments. He is currently looking for the following: Jingjinglers, Floofloobers, and Blumbloopas. He will not rest until he finds a Symphoniphone. He is up until all hours searching eBay. Nothing. Poor guy. I feel sorry for him. It's a sickness.

Tell us something.: I'm a fiddler and, latterly, a fluter. I love the flute. I wish I'd always played it. I love the whistle as well. I'm blessed in having really lovely instruments for all of my musical interests.

30, 35, 40? Come off it, that's babes in arms stuff.

By the way, is it just me or has everyone got a really nice ocarina in their whistle bag that they've tried sporadically over the years to get a tune out of and never quite managed it?

I have 17 of Colin Goldies whistles, if there are any prizes for consistency.

I recently bought a cheap plastic ocarina to try out. Like you Ben, it languishes in my (guitar) bag, coming out sporadically to see if I can make sense of it and actually play a tune on it. :)

And I can in no way compete in the Whoa stakes. I have a measley 16 with one more on the way for Chrimbo.

I use the ocarina in my whistle bag during church services. It blends well with the pipe organ feature on the electronic keyboard. I get to play it during services about every other month, during practice more. It doesn't blend with the other instruments as nicely as I would like. When we walk the dog around the neighborhood, I'll play songs, especially Carols during Christmas time. My wife doesn't like me to play it in the house. She thinks it's too honking loud.

With a measly 17 whistles, I'm not a candidate. And I'm NOcarina on the Ocarina.
Just curious, does the winner get a whistle? :D

I think that, when considering numbers of whistles owned, it's better to use one of the old counting systems. You know: 1, 2, 3, lots.

Actually, if someone is in a artistic mood, then they could make a little "Worst WhOA Addict On The Chiffboard" certificate for the winner. And I was thinking of the winner as the person with the most whistles, period. Nothing too fancy. :)
