I'd have to agree. I don't think I need to repeat that famous quote from the Irish Knight we all know.

I voted it is dubbed over with a Fife, but the actor wasn't really playing either. I still liked the commercial.
My Flutes:
James Galway JG3 Spirit Flute
Gemeinhardt 2sp Student Flute w/ Custom Series S Headjoint
19c Antique German Orchestral Flute - Huller/Lyon-Healy/Meyer 13 key - "Frankenflute"
Aulos A440 Grenser Traverso

Baroque, Classical, Trad - I play it all.

I've seen that one a few times, and always wonder if that one guy really jumps from the 2nd story or if it's special effects.

He does jump from the second story, but you don't see what he lands on, obviously something to cushion the impact.

it's nothing new that bullsh** music and the instruments don't match.
In the movie Glory, they show fifers and drummers.....and the music is actually played by piccolos. You mean they couldn't find REAL players?
In this Bk commercial.....they're not fifes.....they are piccolos also.

I've been lobbying Hollywood for years and years and years to get it right.
Sooooo many commercials around the time of July 4 show the same junk.....and misuse the instruments. They don't care. Sound effects and visual effects need not coincide.

Uh, lighten up a bit. :D This is not a "serious music" commercial. It's obviously tongue-in-cheek, meant to be fun, a spoof on parades. If the producers put a real flute/piccolo player in the commercial, it would not be funny--it might be ludicrous, but it would not be funny. Actually, I'd take more offense if a real player was in a spoof commercial, as if a serious flute player should be laughed at, is some kind of clown.

My word, mute, you read my mind. I just saw
this commercial for the 1st time this morning
and my first thought was "Dear Lord, couldn't
they have sprung for a piccolo?" followed by
"That guy is quite the spaz!"

I'm with Akiba here: the flute playing is meant to be and look fake, in the whole tradition of parades, circus clowns etc.
I'm proud to say that when I watched, it was the embouchure (and the associated saggy angle) that gave it away first, before there was time to see where the fingers were flapping.
If there is anything to object about, it's the babe in pink - the sexism is perhaps mild enough, but utterly gratuitous.

Flute Guy must be a big hit ... because he's now featured in a second BK ad. With more (one-handed) finger-flapping, embouchure-mangling goodness. :-)

(And overdubbed flute instead of piccolo this time.)

Tell us something.: I'm a fiddler and, latterly, a fluter. I love the flute. I wish I'd always played it. I love the whistle as well. I'm blessed in having really lovely instruments for all of my musical interests.

Is there a link, Mr Guru Sir? (I don't think we get these splendid advertisements in the old country.)

it's not meant to be anything other that what it is: money-saving approach by someone who doesn't know any better. They dont' care because most of the rest of the word doesn't either.
And apparently a couple on here, too.

Accuracy for the sake of accuracy? naaaaaaah.
it's easier to put up your hands and say, "Why bother?"

sort of like that eBay listing that now says a flute, according to their "research," is "IN THE STYLE OF...."
jeeze........how's that for up-selling?
And they add: WE BELIEVE FROM PHOTOS WE HAVE SEEN THAT IT IS A RUDALL & CARTE FROM EARLY 19TH CENTURY BUT IT IS NOT SIGNED

Pleeeeeeeezeeeeee.

Soooo.....yeah.....why be so serious? Lighten up a bit. They just want to sell their product. What's the issue on accuracy after all?

And i have a stick here that I'll put holes into it and say it has the qualities of an Olwell......just not the stamp. After all.....it IS wood, right?
