To all those going - I look forward to meeting you. Mind you, having heard that there are only 29 places, I'm beginning to feel a little nervous - I've only been playing the wooden flute 18 months - if this is intended to be a gathering of the elite of flute players I'm more than a little out of my depth!
Those people who are going - what are you most looking forward to?

I wouldn't worry about any "elite" thing too much. Hammy has said a number of times that the limitations of places were set to ensure that everyone present would have the attention of the teachers in workshops etc. I reckon that there will be room for fluters of various levels.
However, there are players in the teaching/lecturing staff that do belong to the elite of our time. Meeting these people and getting some pointers and tunes from them is definitely one of the things I am most looking forward to.
In this sort of occasions there is always the social aspect of meeting and getting to know people, which I find quite important too.

neilC, I think the weekend will definitely be of great benefit for you. The tutors are likely to give us fairly different perspective to flute playing than Niall and Mike would. (Though as regards to Mr. McGoldrick's teaching I can only speculate based on his style of playing - Niall' s teaching I'm at the moment getting week by week more familiar with. )

Great indeed - though this thread has missed the 2008 Meeting entirely!
I respect people's privilege to hold their beliefs, whatever those may be (within reason), but respect the beliefs themselves? You gotta be kidding!
