Prayers, please?

Post by Geraint »

My mother isn't very well, and she won't get better. She may last some months, maybe less, maybe a bit more but she won't be with us for much longer. Pretty much everyone has to deal with this at some time, I know, but it's still a horrible thing to face.

I'm not a religious man, but my Mam draws great comfort from her religion and Church. I hope that those of you who do have a religion will understand when I ask this. For her, then, I would be glad if some of you could please find it in your hearts to say a prayer for her, for her comfort.

My Mam's name is Christine.

Diolch - thanks

Geraint, I am very sorry to hear about your mother. I just could not imagine that pain. I will be praying for her.

I will pray for your Mom & you. My Mom is 82 and it hurts to even think about losing her.

Prayers for your mum, and you ... May she bask in the warmth of love while she faces this trial, and may she travel the path well and find happiness and peace along the way. May you find strength in each other, and the courage to let her journey on.

P.S.
Funny thing you'll find about prayers, ... they do not require religion, only faith.

I will light a candle for your Mom and you and your family in church this weekend.

My own Mom, 81, was very sick this last year too. We all thought her time had come. She started telling us well over 10 years ago that she lived a full life. She wasn't in pain, just tired, so we just accepted this as part of life. Two months ago, she got her medication adjusted and she made a complete recovery and is celebrating. She's visiting next week with my brother.

I don't know what your Mom's illness is and don't know your expectations but I do hope your Mom and your family are all comfortable where she is at in her life.
Rose tint my world. Keep me safe from my trouble and pain.

I'm not much for prayer either, but your Mom is in my thoughts, as is your entire family. It's never easy...

Thanks, everyone, for your prayers and thoughts. They're a comfort in a very difficult time.

I'm hopefully going to take her to Walsingham, to the Shrine, nxt week. She's talked of going there for a long time and so I wanted her to get there when I could. I hope that it'll help her.

Diolch - thanks.

Holl amrantau'r sêr ddywedant,
Ar hyd y nos.
Dyma'r ffordd i fro gogoniant,
Ar hyd y nos;
Golau arall yw tywyllwch,
I arddangos gwir brydferthwch;
Teulu'r nefoedd mewn tawelwch,
Ar hyd y nos.

O! Mor siriol gwena'r seren,
Ar hyd y nos.
I oleuo'i chwaer ddaearen,
Ar hyd y nos.
Nos yw henaint pan ddaw cystudd,
Ond i harddu dyn a'i hwyrddydd
Rhown ein golau gwan i'n gilydd,
Ar hyd y nos.

Tr. by J. Mark Sugars

Stars gaze down and tell their story,
All through the night,
"Here's the way to a land of glory,"
All through the night;
Other light seems merely darkness
When true beauty shines upon us,
Heaven's family tranquil o'er us,
All through the night.

See how smiles a star serenely
All through the night,
Beaming at the moon so keenly,
All through the night;
"Night is old age, with grief coming
But, adorning Man and evening
Pale light from us will be streaming
All through the night."

Popular variation
1. Sleep my love, and peace attend thee
All through the night;
Guardian angels God will lend thee,
All through the night,
Soft the drowsy hours are creeping,
Hill and vale in slumber steeping,
I my loving vigil keeping,
All through the night.

2. Angels watching ever round thee,
All through the night,
In thy slumbers close surround thee,
All through the night,
They should of all fears disarm thee,
No forebodings should alarm thee,
They will let no peril harm thee,
All through the night.

Best wishes.
