To bring this back to political correctness (and hopefully kick it over to page 50)...did you know there's a grassroots movement to change the spelling and pronunciation of Cabrillo College? Turns out, however, that the fellow in question was actually Portuguese, and his surname should properly be spelled "Cabrilho" (and pronounced with the "L").

Hey Red: i dont know what language they are speaking but only the spelling varies. Its the same pronunciation. I never heard the l (my Mom and Gma were native speakers albeit Azorean not mainland).
Brazilians dont pronounce the l either, at least on any of my records...hmmm..maybe its a mainland thing...that accent is different. My fave accent is the carioca, from Rio, which is ultimate CP. Even beats out French for sensuality in delivery, tho' some would argue that.

I do maintain that the Portuguese are the single most overlooked ethnic minority in California, tho that culture's tendency to self-effacement is the problem (I grew up hearing "Portugee" jokes from my Mom, and being told that I had brown eyes cause the s#$% "came up to here"). I don't see any point of changin' Cabrillo at this point, tho I would support correct spelling in the history books. Then they would have to change Magellan to Magalhães or however thats spelled, too. Of European tongues, Portuguese orthography is exceeded only by Irish in confusing others.Sample Portuguese to Spanish:
Mendonça = Mendoza
Gonsalves= Gonzales
Morães=Morales
João = Juan

And mon ami Reid, what CPs they are!!!!!

Isn't that a nice blue bowl? I got 4 of them in sizes from small to jumbo...for $3 at Dollar General! They are light and nice for things like chips and popcorn.

This reminds me of that Sesame Street book (fine literature) of the Cookie Monster - The Monster at the End of this book. What do you think will happen when we get there?

Maybe a prize for the first post on the 50th page. Anybody have a free whistle prize to donate?

By the way has there been any mention in this thread of whistles - Besides now?
Why yes, on page 47? 48? where I posted a pic of my g/f, I mentioned that she has played flute for a long time, and started on whistles recently.

I just wanna know what Europeans have against our CP thread. That danish guy wants to lock it, now dear Rog wants to keep it On topic...sigh...

And I never waved a flag even once, but rather complained about PC stuff here in the US at the outset.

Free at last, free at last, onward TO PAGE 51 on the "LEGENDARY etc etc. Keep the posts and pix a-comin!

Well I can't see any other candidate for a super bowl in that pic—it looks good enough to me.

Note the plate of Lil' Smokies in the picture!! I made them those with the sauce on them, you know? Gave them tooth pics and everything to eat them with.

I didn't get around to the bean dip shaped in the form of a football.

Huh! There I was trying to tip it over into page 51 and that's all the thanks I get!

I've a good mind not to post that pic of my very own cutie-pies that Aodhán has kindly offered to host.

Yeah, I know how you feel. Everyone was talking about getting to 50, and when I tipped it over to that page I was completely ignored.

I guess it's because I'm not an "official" cutie-pie. :mad:
All the Best, Tom

edited for lousy spelling.
