As he has only got one leg he should be easy enough to track down.

Why does a piper on a concert pitch set need 2 microphones? Is he afraid people won't hear him?

feck sake..try busking! you'd want 4 mics! :-)

if there's noise from the passers by, etc. you NEED some amplification. the drones many times can become inaudible.

BTW, razzmaster, good catch on the Youtube vid!

Aha, I found "Boston Tiles" (strange name!): Pierre Goisbault & Loïc Joucla. Loïc is the piper. His user name is Poupounou here on the Chiffboard.

Pictures of his Froment C set here, if you can untangle the old html code. Same as in the photo and vid, I think:

Obviously the stories about the Froment pipes are some what exaggerated. They don't cost an arm and a leg ...

Well, I thought that razzmaster already succeeded in nailing the ID as Loïc Joucla / Poupounou , the fellow in the YouTube vid. It sure looks like him. He's playing a C set in the video, that looks like the Froment C set in the pic above, the same that Loïc posted about here on the Chiffboard. The date and location of the video (August 9) match the time and place of Rory's photo ("Galway city a couple of weeks back"), and the microphone setup is similar. It all seems to fit.

But maybe not?

Hello,

More about this set : it's the last one made by the late Alain Froment and it's a C one .
Here is a little slide show of his construction :

I think this set is rather well played by Loïc.

Salut Loïc ! Serais-tu en train de devenir une star ? A+
