"Honey, I just decorated the basement! Cool, huh?"
"Oh, great. I can hardly wait until your bowling buddies get drunk and start coloring it in. But, there it is...I suppose it's too much to ask 'em to keep between the lines???"

Churchill and ... the Wolfman?!!? Freud? Dr. Zorba?
Added: Ah, I should have read the story. It's G.B. Shaw. How disappointing.

"But darling I can still see the damp patch,"
Finally feel like I'm getting somewhere. It's only taken 6 years.

What appears to be a damp patch is actually shadow from the spot light in the ceiling. They called this a basement room, but the view from the tall window shows that this room is above ground. I wish that my basement had views like that.Infernaltootler wrote:"But darling I can still see the damp patch,"
That is a funny little two-legged end table that is drawn on the wall. It looks like the artist missed that day in perspective class. However, the perspective distortion could be deliberate, as I have seen paintings with these perspective "errors".

impossible to find a fully underground basement
here. They are usually open on one side, probably
because of hilliness? I don't know. Is there another
name for it if it's not fully underground maybe?
(Basements of any type are pretty rare here,
actually.)

It's not a basement, so it must be a non-basement: greek prefix "a".
